Open Hearts Events
At Erin Nicole Yoga, we are a nomadic tribe of teachers and light workers, inspired to realign our modern worldy landscape and embrace intentional movement and mindfulness as an essential part of daily living. Open Hearts Events are an extension of the services we provide, entirely catered to children. We introduce children to movement and breath work, stillness and meditation, as well as inspire their creativity and intentional mindset through the arts and sensory play.
We offer events locally in the Orange County, CA area. Events are limited to 8-10 children to maintain an intimate learning environment where the teachers can provide thoughtful attention to each child. We will curate a waitlist once the event is sold out. Scroll to learn more details about our program and event schedule.
What are Open Hearts Events?
Open Hearts Events are designed for children, ages 3+, to explore the world of yoga through intentional movement, stillness and creative sensory play.
We hold space for children to immerse themselves in sensory experiences that encourage intention setting, creativity and mindfulness.
What makes Open Hearts Events unique?
While the world teaches us to look externally for answers, reassurance and guidance, we hope to teach children the power they have within themselves. We guide children to be intentional, to be deeply connected to their heart first, and we show them how to heart-fully interact with the external world. With so much experience teaching adults, we often witness closed hearts energetically and physically manifested in the body. Our hope is to teach children to embody confidence and empowerment and live freely with and kind an open heart.
What can you expect for an event?
Each event typically lasts two hours. We outlined a schedule below to give you a better idea of how we structure each event.
Do parents need to be present?
Parents may choose to stay or return for pick-up. However, we do ask if students have highly specific allergies or health needs, that parents remain present. Our teachers are all CPR/AED certified as well as maintain liability insurance, in the event of an emergency we are trained to administer CPR, and can provide CPR with parent approval. We always have one teacher and an assistant present at each event.
How old should your child be to participate?
We originally designed Open Hearts for children of preschool age, who may not be in school everyday, or at all. The “first five” years are often noted as the most important years in a child’s development. Around ages three/four, we see a turning point in children’s attention span, their capacity to absorb knowledge and their heightened curiosity. Accordingly, participation starts at age three. Please note: If a child is not potty trained the parent must be present the entire time.
Open Hearts Event Schedule
I. Welcome Circle
We welcome children and gather for ‘circle time’ where we share our names and familiarize the students with the lesson/theme and schedule for the day.
II. Introduction to Yoga
After our ‘Welcome Circle’ we start movement! We structure a 30 minute yoga session for the children. Our instructors create age-appropriate flows, that are playfully cued to keep students engaged and supported throughout the session.
III. Minutes of Mindfulness
At the end of our movement session we settle into Savasana. We encourage the kids to lay quietly and be still for a few minutes. To assist, we guide the children through a calming story-style meditation, and gift each child a specially selected energized crystal to hold while they rest.
IV. Nourishment Break
The children may enjoy water and healthy snacks (provided). You may bring your own snacks if you choose.
V. Art of Intention
We gather the children for a brief demonstration of our art project. Through demonstration, we showcase techniques and give gentle guidance and suggestions. We generally follow a hands off approach here, and allow the kids to explore their creativity, and step in when they ask for help. As we see their art develop we ask questions about their art and intentions for their finished piece. Here we see creativity and intention work together in harmony.
In addition to a guided art project we also create stations for kids to practice sensory play as well. Stations differ based on themes for the events. Our stations are thoughtfully prepared to play to all the senses. This portion of the event usually lasts about 45 minutes.
VI. Goodbye Circle
We gather for our final ‘circle time’ where we all share our experiences. The children are encouraged to share their art and favorite yoga pose learned. We also incorporate a traditional Om circle into our closing, which is so special!
We loved our "Colors in Nature" scavenger hunt!
Magical fairy garden inspired elements for our sensory bin.
